• Marc Jacobs Daisy & Lola: Perfume Profile

Marc Jacobs is one of the world’s most prominent fashion designers, and today runs both his own fashion house, as well as holding the position of Creative Director of Louis Vuitton. Jacobs was born in New York in 1963 and, after attending the New York High School of Art and Design, quickly became a force in the fashion industry, picking up numerous awards and developing his own brand, eventually securing the prized position at Louis Vuitton in 1997.

Jacobs’ fragrances are renowned as some of the most exquisite on the market. First came Daisy, a sweet scent strongly evocative of the wonder of Spring. It contains top notes of wild strawberry, violet leaves, and ruby red grapefruit; heart notes of violet, jasmine, and gardenia; and a base of vanilla and musk. His latest, Lola, is marketed as a more vampish, sensual companion to Daisy, and contains top notes of pink peppercorn, pear, and ruby red grapefruit; heart notes of rose, fuschia, and geranium; and base notes of vanilla, warm tonka bean, and creamy musk. My girlfriend wears it, and it’s damn sexy, for your information.

  • Fragrance Mad Possibly Inspires Worcestershire To Victory

It’s been a lean Twenty20 campaign for Worcestershire thus far, but Sri Lankan legend Sanith Jayasuriya powered them to a comprehensive victory on Friday in front of the difficult-to-please Fragrance Mad banner. Jayasuriya slammed 87 off just 45 balls to make a mockery of Northamptonshire’s apparently challenging total of 140 for 5. The Fragrance Mad logo was hilariously said to be ‘in the pink’ after witnessing the performance.

In other news, as Walkers have invented a crisps World Cup to coincide with the football this Summer, we were wondering about the kind of fragrances leading perfumers could come up with to reflect some of the different countries taking part in the competition. Germany’s presumably would be a sickly-sweet Gluhwein concotion with a leathery base note, the USA would perhaps go for the classic masculine barbecue ribs scent, and England? Top notes of hope and expectation, a heart of bloody-minded determination that things must surely improve, and a lingering four-year base of crushing disappointment. Enjoy the game! Let us know on our Facebook page what you think would make a killer World Cup fragrance.

  • Britney Spears’ Circus Now On Sale

Circus is the latest perfume from the best-selling Britney Spears Fantasy range, supposedly inspired by her recent album of the same name. Let us know on our spanking new Facebook page (please like us, please) if there are any classic albums or songs that you’d like to be magically turned into a fragrance; perhaps there’s something pungent lurking in Madonna’s leotard from the Hung Up video just waiting to be wrung into bottles.

Lucky really, that Circus is not inspired by the smell of elephants and clowns, but instead a captivating and mischievous blend of juicy raspberry, apricot blossom, blue peony, lotus, orchid, vanilla, musk, and violet candy. It smells sensational and, even better, we’ve got it in stock now at whip-cracking prices of £17.99 for 30ml, and a staggering £26.99 for the 100ml bottle. Get it while it’s hot, or, preferably, room temperature.

  • Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds Eau de Toilette: Perfume Profile

One of the world’s most recognisable celebrities of the post-war era, Elizabeth Taylor has now retired from acting and amassing marriages (she has had eight husbands, counting Richard Burton twice), but remains at the forefront of the fragrance world.

Elizabeth has launched several perfumes, available now at Fragrance Mad, but her most successful of all is White Diamonds. Launched in 1991, the White Diamonds fragrance has since consistently been among the bestselling perfumes worldwide, and is the all-time most successful celebrity fragrance, although the blockbusting Britney Spears Fantasy may have something to say about that at some point in the future.

White Diamonds is a classic scent: rich, warm, and sensual, with complimentary notes of amazon lily, tuberose, amber, patchouli, and sandalwood, among others. It’s available at Fragrance Mad for the kind of prices that hark back to its 1991 launch. A 100ml bottle of Eau de Toilette is available from us for an eye-poppingly bargainous £19.99, and don’t forget, postage from Fragrance Mad is absolutely free: the price you see is the price you pay!
