Gloria Vanderbilt became famous at an early age – she inherited her father’s five million dollar fortune when she was just eighteen months old. After to-ing and fro-ing between New York and Paris with her mother, she eventually became the centre of a widely publicised court case over her custody which resulted in the young Miss Vanderbilt being looked after by her paternal aunt.
