• David Beckham Launches Signature ‘Homme’ Fragrance

      0

Not content with playing “soccer” once a year for the LA Mermen and going round Tom Cruise’s house for tea, David Beckham has somehow found time in his busy schedule to release a new men’s fragrance for 2011, and it looks set to be his most successful yet. David Beckham Homme supercedes other scents in the Beckham range, such as Signature and Instinct, to become the centrepiece fragrance of the David Beckham house. Homme is a woody-spicy fragrance with notes of ginger, sichuan pepper, and citruses at the top of the scent; rosemary, leather, and cashmere wood making up the heart; and the scent finishes with a base of mahogany, patchouli, and musk.

Upon initial release, David Beckham Homme is available in 30 and 50ml EDTs, and we’ve scored some free companion deodorants to send out with every order we take at Fragrance Mad. Check out the site now: the scent plus free deodorant is available at the quite bargainous price of £18.79 for the 30ml EDT, or upgrade to 50ml for just £24.79.

  • Britney Spears Fantasy & Curious: Perfume Profile

      0

In much the same way that Michael Jackson dominated ’80s celebrity culture and Bodger and Badger were everywhere in the ’90s, Britney Spears has been a dominating figure in the Western world for over a decade now. Since being forced into showbusiness by her mother from a young age, Britney has lived out her difficult life in the glare of the public eye and endless cameras. Her first single, Hit Me Baby One More Time, was released in 1999 to huge success, reaching Number One in the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and selling millions of copies. This paved the way for her to shove aside the decaying Spice Girls and become the biggest music sensation of the ’00s, monopolising the charts with hit after hit. It seemed as if the public’s thirst for Britney was unquenchable, and she was harrassed by the press in a manner not seen since the Beatles. This attention proved overwhelming, and Britney’s public persona shifted from a carefully cultivated virginal choirgirl who slowly disintegrated into a wildchild, making increasingly ill-advised lifestyle and boyfriend choices.

Her life took a turn for the chaotic in 2004 when she hooked up with dancer Kevin Federline, and their three years together saw her descend into a mental quagmire, eventually splitting up with him in early 2007 to attend rehab and famously shave her head in an LA salon. Some much-needed privacy and time away from the spotlight led many critics to feel as if she was a burnt-out and washed-up talent, but Britney confounded expectations by returning and proving just as popular as ever with the album Circus. A couple more mega-hits later, and she now appears stable and set to remain at the top of the pop tree for years to come, or until people stop writing catchy songs for her, or she starts to look old.

Despite the ups and downs of her personal life, one consistency of Britney’s finances has been the phenomenal success of her fragrance lines in recent years. Her first perfume, Fantasy, was launched in 2005 in partnership with Coty Fragrances, and has been the best-selling scent of every year since its release. Britney Fantasy also has the distinction of being a continuous best-seller here at Fragrance Mad; we’ve got buckets of it going out the door at an unbelievable £19.99 for 100ml. Since this initial hit, Britney hasn’t put a foot wrong in the fragrance world, following up Fantasy with the very popular Curious (£15.99 for 100ml at FM), and then returning to the base of Fantasy for a series of variations, including Midnight Fantasy, Hidden Fantasy, and Circus Fantasy. It seems as if Fantasy may be one of those scents that just keeps going and going long after the star herself has put her feet up for retirement, in much the same way that Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds continues to shift millions of units worldwide even after its namesake’s death. And why not? It’s a perfect sweet and sensual scent.

  • Gillette Mach 3 Blades Now in Stock

      0

Fragrance Mad now has the very best razor blades in the world, Gillette Mach 3, in stock at the most eye-popping prices on the web: 8 blades for just £10.99, including delivery! Mach 3 were a huge innovation in shaving technology when they were first released in 1998. The Mach 3 blade spent more than ten years and $750 million in research and development but revolutionised home shaving with its patented three blade technology. Since then, Gillette have released many new razors, including the recent Fusion model which features five blades, but the original Mach 3 remains a firm favourite with customers, and sales of Mach 3 blades make up 50% of the company’s total blade sales. In fact, the Gillette Venus range for women is completely modelled on the Mach 3, just with its name changed to be a bit more girly, and with the razor pink instead of black!

Although Gillette try to convince customers that each razor they release is vastly superior to the one that preceded it (to the point where they’ve had to fend off lawsuits disputing this), the difference actually appears to be so infinitesimal that customers barely notice, and it looks as if the Mach 3 will be massively popular for years to come. Shaving can be an expensive business (that’s why I rarely bother!), and Gillette blades now hold the honour of being the UK’s most shoplifted product as high street shops keep them at exorbitant prices, so save yourself a packet and shop online with Fragrance Mad instead!

  • Bargain Price on Vivienne Westwood Boudoir at Fragrance Mad

      0

Aren’t we good to you here at Fragrance Mad? Right now we have the best price available for as far as the eyes can see on the popular perfume from Vivienne Westwood, Boudoir. For a limited time only a 50ml bottle is available from us for just £29.99, a staggering £20 off RRP!

Vivienne Westwood was on the punk scene from the very beginning, running the shop Sex with Malcolm McLaren and envisioning many of the styles that would become punk hallmarks, such as the use of safety pins in clothing. As the punk movement quietened in the early eighties with the arrival of revolutionary musical acts such as Spandau Ballet, Westwood’s career went from strength to strength and she became one of the UK’s premier fashion designers. She launched her first perfume, Boudoir, in 1998. The fragrance was designed in the style of classic perfumes from years gone by, and to feature glorious head-turning notes. Boudoir is a strong, lingering, intoxicating scent comprised of sensual top notes of vibernum, bergamot, and mandarin; sweet heart accords of English red rose, tobacco flowers, and heliotrope; and a base of patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, and cinnamon. It’s a gorgeous scent, and at these prices you’d be mad not to indulge!

  • Estee Lauder: Perfume Profile

      0

Estee Lauder was born in 1906 in Queens, New York, and was raised there by her Eastern European immigrant parents. Lauder was interested in beauty from a young age, and had this passion encouraged by her uncle, a chemist who was interested in cosmetics. Lauder began her company in 1946 selling a small range of products to hotels and boutiques, and soon gained such notoriety that she persuaded department store bosses to give her a concession in Saks’ on Fifth Avenue. From here her business grew exponentially, and Lauder was always on hand to provide the personal touch to potential clients. She worked hard to make her brand synonomous with elegance and wealth, courting celebrities such as Princess Grace of Monaco, and repeatedly sending them samples to encourage them to use Estee Lauder products for their makeup regimes. Lauder died at the tender age of 97 in 2004, leaving behind a multi-billion dollar company that employs 31,000 people worldwide.

Estee Lauder first entered the perfume market in 1953 with Youth Dew, a bath oil that doubled as a perfume scent, which later became the Eau de Parfum spray that it is today. Youth Dew was an instant success, and by 1984 had sold a hundred and fifty million units. Lauder has since expanded its fragrance portfolio to make it one of the most impressive in the industry, featuring such popular scents as Spellbound, Pleasures, Beautiful, Knowing, and White Linen. No matter what style of scent you enjoy, there’ll be something in the Estee Lauder range to delight you.

  • Congratulations to Worcester Warriors

      0

Worcester Warriors will be strutting their stuff in the Rugby Union Premiership from next season, after a hard-fought 20-15 win over Cornish Pirates on Wednesday saw them seal a return to the top flight after just a year in the lower division. Just as Fragrance Mad does to its woeful competitors, Worcester destroyed all-comers this year, going through the regular season with 21 wins from 22 games, and winning all nine of their playoff matches. The team reportedly took their inspiration from the Fragrance Mad logo emblazoned on their sleeves, and tearfully dedicated their promotion to our range of fantastic fragrances at spectacular prices.

Next year will see the Warriors taking on big teams such as Bath and Leicester, as well as playing the big boys in Europe, so here’s hoping the Fragrance Mad stand at their Sixways Stadium (see below) will inspire them to further glories.
