Heading off to hot and humid climes this summer? Brand new to Fragrance Mad is a range of Jungle Formula Insect Repellent to let you enjoy your holiday in peace, rather than having your skin ruined by blood-sucking evil insects. Choose from regular or extra-strength sprays to provide either eight or ten hour protection, only £5.99 each. There’s also a Family Lotion, specially formulated for young or sensitive skin, and should you be attacked by bees at any stage, the Bite & Sting Relief formula will come in very handy to soothe the pain.

If the Jungle Formula range doesn’t take your fancy, why not take a look at Mosquit-ex, our new arrival from Riemann. Riemann makes P20, our best-selling sun lotion that is fast becoming the product of choice for many of Britain’s holidaymakers, and sells on Fragrance Mad at just £15.79 for 200ml. Mosquit-ex works in the same way as P20, in that you only have to apply once for a great length of protection (11 hours). Mosquit-ex is £9.99 for 100ml, well worth the investment for non-ravaged skin! Have a look at our full range of insect repellant products now, and protect yourself from Mother Nature’s most irritating plague.

  • Worcester Warriors Saunter into Play-Off Finals

Worcester Warriors, the Rugby Union side for whom we at Fragrance Mad are the main sponsor, are one (two-legged) step away from a return to the big time amongst the big boys of the Aviva Premiership. Worcester made it through to the final after a heart-stopping 79th minute conversion from fly half Joe Carlisle gave them a thrilling 23-22 win over Bedford Blues at Sixways Stadium on Sunday. For the final, Worcester travel down to Cornwall to take on those dastardly seadogs the Cornish Pirates on the 11th of May, before the Pirates sail up for a second leg showdown on May the 18th to see which of the sides will be playing top-flight rugby next season. We have a three year deal as Worcester’s sponsor so let’s hope they’re victorious! Check out the picture below for a taste of the moment in which the winning points were scored, if you can concentrate on the rugby with that glorious Fragrance Mad banner hogging the background, that is.

  • Beyonce Heat Rush: Perfume Profile

Beyonce Knowles began her career with the girl-group Destiny’s Child, but has since seen her individual career launch into the stratosphere while the rest of the group ply their trade in McDonald’s. After hitting the big-time with songs such as Independent Women and Bootylicious, Beyonce made the leap to solo success in 2003 with the chart-topping Crazy in Love and, by the time Destiny’s Child disbanded in 2006, Beyonce had established herself as the only member of the group likely to remain in the public eye.

Beyonce is now one of the most recognisable names in music, continuing to churn out hit after hit, and has also made the transition to a Hollywood star, garnering critical acclaim for her role in 2006’s Dreamgirls. Her first fragrance, the award-winning Heat, was launched in 2010 to rave reviews and huge sales, and now Beyonce is back with a new scent for 2011, Heat Rush.

I’ve managed to get hold of one for myself, and I think Heat Rush is a gorgeous fragrance, just perfect for the lovely weather that we’re having at the moment. It is a more vibrant and sparkling take on the original Heat, and is set to be one of the big fragrances of the 2011 Summer. The perfume contains notes of passion fruit, Brazilian cherry, and blood orange to open; a heart of mango, orange hibiscus, and orchid; and base notes of amber, musk, and woods to leave a sensual trail. We have it available in two sizes at Fragrance Mad: the 30ml Eau de Parfum is £19.79, while the 50ml is £24.79, and comes with a stylish Beyonce clutch bag as a free gift. Snap some up now to ensure you’re the envy of any dancefloor come the Summer holiday season!

  • Fragrance Mad to Sponsor Worcestershire’s T20 Cricket Campaign

We’re pleased to announce that this year Fragrance Mad will be cranking up our sponsorship of Worcestershire County Cricket Club, to the extent that we will be the main sponsor for the Royals’ home games in the 2011 Friends Life Twenty20 Competition, which begins on the 1st of June. Worcestershire’s first home game is against Durham on Sunday, the 5th of June, so all those in attendance will be treated to a plethora of gorgeous Fragrance Mad banners and suchlike, to dazzle alongside the exploits of Shakib al Hasan, Vikram Solanki et al.

Some unusually creative people have even constructed a neon pink super-comfy behemoth to sit by the side of the pitch during games, as you can see from the stylish pictures accompanying this post. If you fancy sitting in this during a T20 game look out for competition details soon. It’s as yet unclear as to whether a seat in this beast will be first prize or if it’s just a pink sin bin for naughty players. I’ll get back to you on that…

  • W7 Shatter Nail Polish Now in Stock

We’ve just taken our first delivery of shatter nail polish by W7, a new nail varnish that allows you to get a dramatic salon-style effect on your nails without those salon prices. The polish works by being made up of incompatible chemicals which ensure that it does not dry evenly, and so cracks up when it dries. Layer shatter polish over any colour of polish that you have as a base and it will break up to create a cracked effect. Then simply finish with a clear top coat for protection and you’re on your way to sexy, attention-hogging nails!

The Shatter Effect polishes come in three colours: black, silver, and white, and our range of W7 polishes is so vast that there’s a colour (or five) for everybody. There are so many different pinks that you’d think they’d have run out of descriptions for them. The best news of all is that the shatter polish is part of our 3 for 2 across the W7 range, on top of the fact that they’re only £3.49 each to begin with. This means that you can pick up your base colour, a Shatter Effect polish, and a Diamond Clear Top Coat for a grand total of £6.98. Mix and match a different colour for every outfit that you own!

  • Elizabeth Taylor: Dead Successful

Since Dame Elizabeth Taylor passed into the great playhouse in the sky a couple of weeks back, we’ve noticed a huge spike in sales of her fragrances. It’s very strange to me that a celebrity’s death provokes such a huge increase in sales of anything to do with them; perhaps it just about makes sense for people to rush out and pick up Michael Jackson’s albums, but Elizabeth Taylor’s perfumes? Anyway, they’re going like hot cakes, so take a look at our fabulous offer on Liz’s most successful perfume, White Diamonds. We’ve slashed 59% off the RRP, so you can now grab a 100ml Eau de Toilette for an eye-popping £19.99.

Even before Dame Liz’s untimely passing, White Diamonds was the world’s all-time bestselling fragrance, beating off fierce competition throughout the industry to remain constantly top of the pile in year-end sales charts. Despite the fact that Taylor has barely been in the limelight since the late 80s, fans still flocked for White Diamonds with its classic notes of living Amazon lily, Italian neroli and crisp aldehyde at its top; Egyptian tuberose, living narcisse, Turkish rose, living jasmine and Italian orris capturing the heart; and base notes of amber, oakmoss, patchouli and living sandalwood. It remains to be seen whether White Diamonds will continue to be popular in the years following its matriarch’s death, but given her shunning of the limelight for the past twenty years, it seems a safe bet that White Diamonds may be a celebrity fragrance that truly transcends the barrier of depending on a star’s name to sell, excepting a huge sales spike when that star goes out, of course.

  • Armani Code’s New Face

Armani have splashed out mega cyber-bucks to land Transformers hot-bot Megan Fox as the new face of Armani Code perfume. They’re certainly getting their money’s worth: Armani have had Fox parading around in all kinds of outfits (and wigs) for Code, Armani Jeans, and Armani underwear, and the latest creation features a semi-naked Foxy rolling around in a desolate wasteland, all with the aim of selling Armani ladies’ fragrances and clothing. It gets you to wondering: who exactly are these adverts targeted at? It seems strange to bludgeon the typical female buyer with adverts stuffed full of super-skinny celebrity megastars, but what man would watch this and think to force his girlfriend to get a pair of Armani jeans? If perfume adverts such as Scarlett Johannson lolling about in bed for D&G Rose The One are only targeted at other halves buying presents, then the industry must surely be missing out on a lot of sales. Perhaps they’d be better to get a Hollywood hunk spraying Armani Code on a more ordinary girly model? Not that the men here at Fragrance Mad have any objection to the Armani advert. Check it out below and see what you think…

Now that you’re fully motivated into wanting Armani Code after watching Foxy strut her stuff, head over to Fragrance Mad to pick up a bottle. It is a delicate scent that pits the sweet smells of two separate orange notes against each other. The top of the fragrance contains both Italian orange and bitter orange; the heart moves into notes of jasmine and a more subtle orange blossom; and the scent finishes with notes of vanilla and honey. Fragrance Mad have the 30ml Eau de Parfum at £35.99, or upgrade to 50ml and it’ll only cost an extra £4 (that’s £39.99 in total, maths fans).
